166 Title: Silhouette

Catalyst: Improbable at best the stimulus for this piece was the pattern I found in the grain of a plywood veneer in my bathroom. Really. A knot in the grain appeared to me as a 19^th century silhouette.

Challenge: The wood grain around the central knot was radially consistent with what a tree might do around an irregular branching. The question is whether the design should be deep or grow out of the surface.  I tried it both ways, using both the object and the frame from which the object was cut.
