Catalyst: The lotus flower is a perennial theme for photographers, artists, and laser enthusiasts. Images of the lotus appear often on Pinterest:

Challenge: In this early experiment with laser imaging I found a technique which allowed the automatic creation of layers in Inkscape. First using the built-in extension “Interpolate” paths of different colors were created. Then, importing extensions from an organization called “Fablab Chemnitz”, I was able to easily convert styles (colors) to layers.
