Catalyst: The simple mandala from ILeonovsDesign was the inspiration for this piece: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1179339584/scancut-svg-multilayer-laser-cut-mandala
Challenge: This was to be a test of the Illustrator software in creating a step-wise blend. That tool has fewer controls than the Inkscape interpolation tool, but it looked in the original image that the simple regularity of the steps would be perfect for that tool. Alas, not yet.
