Catalyst: The powers of Artificial Intelligence are becoming available, so why not? Microsoft has developed an image generator called ‘Bing.’ You can hand it a descriptive text string like “8 layers laser cut abstract design” and just wait for the results. Not eight layers, but an interesting pattern.

Challenge: Filling in the AI generated pattern with colors encouraged the layering at different depths. The wide center accomodated eight layers, while each of the accompanying arcs reached colors lower or higher in the stack.
