Catalyst: The image was based on a design by Ivan Kotliar from Alamy Stock Vector (KTEJ1D). The salmon is central to the Alaskan mythology as well a central to today’s economy there.
Challenge: An attempt to echo the dynamics of the fish jumping out of the water. Each layer emphasizes the stress of the motion. Technically connecting the surfaces smoothly was a challenge which required a number of iterations.
