Catalyst: A friend suggested that a poster depicting a rhinoceros was an important focus in her early life. And a search for such a poster turned up many examples, but not the remembered theme.

Challenge: Converting a photograph of a rhino to a set of layers was difficult. Keeping track of where colors began and where they disappeared was an accounting nightmare. There must be a better way. It was critical giving the giant animal his eye, without which the design didn’t make much sense.
